The Non-Negotiable

Who am I? Ah. The age-old question/catalyst into a quarter life crisis.

I'm totally trying not to speak for everyone here... but I think we can all agree that for a large majority of people... understanding who we are can sometimes be a lifelong journey and a frustrating one at that.

So anyways...Who am I?

Answered simply: My name is Devon, I'm a wife, daughter, sister, dancer, nurse, health coach, lover of fresh breezes, talent, pretty flowers and things small and furry.

Kind of generic right?

Listen human, there is so much truth in the generic.

We live in a world plagued by people and companies subliminally convincing us how we should live our lives. What to do, what to believe, what to eat, how to exercise, dress and socialize... because it's how they do it.

Somewhat contrary to that... we also live in a world of fierce self empowerment, self acceptance, and self love. Now, don't get me wrong, these are all seemingly good things. The struggle comes when we abandon the innocent attraction to what makes us thrive (and empowered, accepted, loved...) ;to achieving the ultimate level of self acceptance by making ourselves look more appealing to everyone else. Meanwhile we justify our decisions because "I deserve it" and we need to "Treat yo self" when we seldom actually feel satisfied with these decisions.

whoops, sorry. That was a little harsh. I promise it's coming from a place of love though...

The point I'm trying to make is..Some people are healthiest after their sunrise yoga session and mushroom coffee...some are healthiest when they have weekly margarita nights with their friends. You do you, boo.

If you could wave a magic wand and be exactly who you wanted...who would it be? What would you believe? What would make you the happiest? How would you contribute?

What is it that truly makes you satisfied? If you could pick just 5 generic things that are a constant in the healthiest version of you- what would they be?

I posed this question to myself a few months ago and decided that the best way to answer was to determine the things that are non-negotiable in my life. The 5 "generic-ly" complex things that day in and day out; make my heart full, my health stable and thriving, and my world go round.

My 5 Non-Negotiables (in no particular order)

  1. Faith

  2. Little pleasures

  3. Experiences

  4. People

  5. Physical/Mental Health

Obviously these are just the main titles and there is SO. MUCH. that goes into each of them...but what I've realized is, the things that make me the best version of myself all fall under one of these 5 things.

I don't want to come off as a walking advertisement for self admonition. No, I'm not here to do that. What I'm doing now is establishing rapport with you, How could I ever be a source of support for your healthiest life if I'm not honest about where I come from?

What are your Big 5 Non-Negotiables?

I can't wait to support you in pursuing them.

xoxo,

D.
