So you have Cancer.

What happened when you found that out?

A massive Identity shift?

Anger?

Motivation?

Confusion?

Worry?

I’m sure it was a combination of all of the above, and probably many more.

In a way, Cancer is such a poetic word. When something evokes that many different levels of emotion, it really raises the stakes.

I feel you. It’s a BIG deal. And it’s true, I haven’t walked a mile in your shoes, but I have walked many a mile along side you.

I’m an oncology nurse by passion. Not many people could put themselves in that place, and It’s a place that I don’t take lightly.

I’ve known since one of my first rotations in nursing school that I was meant to be involved.

It’s truly an honor, and I respect the vulnerability of the situation you are in.

That being said, I’m here for you on more than one level.

Clinically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, motivationally (pick a word and add -lly)…I’m proud to carry that with you.

If there was any part of your diagnosis that you felt you needed the most support in, what would that be?

Did you narrow it down? It’s okay if there is more than one.

So guess what...

I am the person that will Coach you through these.

I know I don’t have some magic cure (although I wish I did).

What I do have, however, is the knowledge, resources, skill and heart to help you feel in control of your health in this most vulnerable time.

I am not here to tell you what to do- I am here simply to coach you through obstacles, celebrations, moments of confusion and clarity. I am here to coach you to be your best advocate.. to infinity and beyond.

I’m here for you every step of this journey, and I can’t wait to help you uncover the strongest, most powerful version of yourself. You warrior you.

From my Kindred Heart to Yours,

Devon
